The story

A storm lantern hangs from a rough branch, a single climbing vine drawn inside its glass. The leaves above are worked twice over — crisp and lit on one side, dissolving into shadow on the other — and the whole weight of the piece hangs from one hooked wire. Original charcoal on paper, one of one. Built entirely in tone: there is no line here that isn't also a shadow.
