The story

An old stone bridge arches over a slow stream, a cottage on either bank and a path winding up into the hills. Pines crowd the right, a broad canopied tree leans in from the left, and a pale sun sits high over the ridge with three birds beneath it. Original charcoal on paper, one of one. A full landscape held in greys alone — thatch, stone, water and foliage separated by tone and nothing else.
